FAQs

Common Questions, Clear Answers

Do we charge for our services?

Yes. We are completely independent of any insurance or program, allowing us to meet all of our client’s unique challenges without working within the guidelines of one particular program. We do not accept ANY referral fees or work exclusively with any services, organizations, or providers so you know we are only working in our client’s best interest. We can work within any budget.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa/Mastercard, Discover, American Express, or cash.
What’s the process for starting with your services?

The preferred option is to start with the complete advocacy analysis (needs assessment) to ensure we have all the information needed to put together a successful plan. Sometimes that isn’t necessary (we will have a consultation call to determine) in which case we work at our hourly rate to address a specific need, concern or crisis.

How do I know if Aging Advocates can meet my care needs?
We only want what is best for you. Since you hire us directly, we will only accept clients who we know we can assist.
How do you personalize care plans?
Our initial advocacy analysis (needs assessment) allows us the privilege of getting to know our client and viewing the holistic picture of their needs and goals. We are then able to customize very individualized recommendations that are reasonable for that individual. No two care plans look the same!
How do you ensure seniors’ safety?
Our individualized approach always balances safety, quality of life, dignity and reasonable expectations when making any recommendations or implementing changes. Each plan looks very different for each client and evolves with changing needs.
Can you act as an emergency contact?
Yes! Many of our families utilize our team to be a trusted and professional local emergency contact.
Why does Aging Advocates charge for their services?
We are a private organization who only works in our client’s best interest. We work directly for our families so that we don’t have to answer to insurance companies or government programs, ensuring no outside interest. It’s also strictly against our code of ethics to accept any referral fees for services we recommend to our clients.
Why are the fees for your services so high?
In addition to being a private organization that works directly for our families without any outside interests, we bring an abundance of resource knowledge and industry expertise. Each client’s needs are being reviewed by an interdisciplinary team, ensuring multiple perspectives are utilized. Our team is required to spend nearly half of their schedule on meeting with local resources to stay current on availability and quality, as well as education and training.

We also believe each client should be familiar with at least 2 members of our team in the event of an emergency, there’s always a familiar face available to them. We also work diligently within any budget restrictions of our clients and utilize programs they may be eligible for.

Can you help with medical appointments and medications?

Yes, depending on the preference and needs of the client and/or family, we can schedule appointments and transportation or bring clients along with their medical history to ensure accuracy of information back and forth. Medication handling also looks different for each individual. In some cases we assist with ensuring prescriptions are filled and delivered from the pharmacy, reminders are coordinated, or a licensed provider pre-fills a medication dispenser.

What is senior living?
Senior living refers to a variety of housing options designed for older adults who may need varying levels of assistance with daily activities but wish to maintain an independent lifestyle. These settings range from independent living communities to assisted living and memory care facilities, offering amenities, social opportunities, and healthcare services tailored to the needs of seniors.
What is independent living?
Independent senior living refers to residential communities designed for older adults who can manage their daily needs without assistance but desire the conveniences and social opportunities of community living. These communities typically offer amenities such as meal services, housekeeping, maintenance, and recreational activities, enabling a lifestyle of ease and social engagement. They have the ability to bring in additional support services just as they would in their own home.
What is the difference between independent living and assisted living?
In addition to the amenities provided in an independent living community, assisted living, provides more comprehensive support. Depending on their license, they may provide services such as personal care, medication management, bathing, dressing, toileting and safety checks.
What is the difference between assisted living and a nursing home?
A nursing home is a higher level of care and can provide more medical care than the assisted living license will allow.
What is memory care?
Memory care is a setting designed for those with a dementia or cognitive impairment diagnosis and require more assistance and supervision with daily living. Memory care can be found at either an assisted living or skilled nursing level of care.
What are the differences between in-home care and assisted living?
Various levels and providers of in-home care can be provided at a residential home or independent senior housing. At assisted living, the support services are employed by the facility.
Does Medicare pay for assisted living?
No. The payment options for assisted living include private funds, long term-care insurance and Medicaid (if available).
Does Aging Advocates offer an automatic payment option?
Yes. We conveniently accept automatic withdrawals from checking, savings or bank cards. You receive an itemized invoice every two weeks.
Does Aging Advocates require a security deposit?
Some new cases are subject to a security deposit.
Is there a minimum monthly requirement?

In order to ensure the highest quality of care, it’s crucial we have regular contact with our clients. We will recommend what level of frequency is reasonable for each client but require a minimum of 1 in person visit monthly, and a re-assessment every 6 months. We want to prevent you from ending up in a crisis situation!

Is there a contract?
Our services can be canceled voluntarily by either party with 48 hours notice of any scheduled appointment.
